Sport lovers staying in Umbria for a holiday period or for their whole life will find a large offer of activities to be practiced, especially outdoor. Here is a list of  main sport activities, with some addresses and additional information.

 

Golf

Golf is an emerging sport in Umbria and the offer of golf courses is getting bigger. Currently there are 4 active golf courses in the region.

 

Bicycle

Umbria is a real paradise for cyclists, especially for mountain bikers. There are dozens of marked-out paths among the hills and woods, surrounded by a beautiful nature; the peculiar structure of the land with its alternation of hills, makes pedalling quite strenuous for those who are not used to it. Nevertheless, there are also flat paths, such as the tour of Lake Trasimeno.

Tennis

Tennis is a sport diffusely practiced in the region and tennis courts are quite popular, with at least a club for each municipality. Some tennis clubs are open only for members, while in other sport complexes it is possible to rent tennis courts by hour.

 

Rafting and canyoning

Rafting is an exciting but adapt to everyone, it is practised above all in Valnerina, in the nearby of Norcia. The rafting centres of the valley provide all the means and equipment necessary to face the rapids of the river in complete safety. Absolutely unmissable for those who are looking for an adventurous experience.
You can practice canyoning  in the canyons dug by the torrents; you can walk, slide down wet slabs of rock, cliff jump off blind escarpments into deep pools, scramble up rocks and abseil down drops and waterfalls.

Climbing

For free climbing lovers, the area of Ferentillo in Valnerina is a real paradise, with almost 500 marked out paths, of several length and difficulty level.

Windsurf, Kitesurf and sailing boat

On Lake Trasimeno there are several clubs where you can practice windsurf, kitesurf, sailing boat and water sports in general, with individual or group courses.
The most beautiful beaches equipped with sunbeds and sunshades are available in Tuoro, Castiglione del lago and Passignano sul Trasimeno.

Horse riding

Many agriturismi and riding schools organize riding tours on paths and mule-tracks, sometimes staying over at night.
Finding some good tracks for riding is definitely not a problem. For its structure and the richness of its naturalistic patrimony, Umbria is perfect for equestrian tourism.
